Formula One Bread for Belgian Grand Prix

After the summer break it is time to pump up the revs and head flat out through Eau de Rouge and Raidillon. With this bread you will be on pole position. Baquette, mayo, burger beef, home made fries, fresh chili, parsley and hollandaise (despite I'm not a fan of Max) Eat this slowly, like Williams drivers eats miles on track.  This photo is shot with Sony A7RIII and Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art Series lens a.k.a. the money maker.

Sigma Art Lenses for Sony E-mount

The wait is over, Sigma Art lenses for full frame Sony E-mount cameras are here. I have used Sigma Art lenses with my Sony for a few years now. The lenses are sharp and have a nice bokeh, but still they were not perfect. There were no lenses for full frame e-mount Sonys, hence I had to use Canon EF-mount with a adaptor. Although Sigma's adaptor is best in the market, yet it felt a bit clumsy and its performance was not as good as it good be. But now all this has all changed. I am not going bore you with all those fancy tech specs, the internet is full of sites with diagrams and numbers on how lenses perform. I will speak from my own experience, what is the look and feel from my perspective. After testing these lenses about a month, I can say I am super happy. They are sharp right from wide open aperature, focus is fast and accurate and build quality is good and solid. I have tested 20,35 and 50mm f/1.4 lenses. All photos I took are work related, unfortunately and I can´t publish those yet. But I did some test shots on a summer house to give you few examples. I also have the new 70mm f/2.8 macro. Haven´t been able to test it properly, but I can say it is a true money maker for  food photographers. 

Five tips for road trips in Norway

Norway is a beautiful country and it is just perfect for photographers who loves road trips. Here is five tips that will help you to get most out of your journey.     1. Dont rush.     Driving in Norway will take time. Scenic routes are narrow and curvy, it can take three hours to drive 100km. And there is going to     be so much things to photograph so thrust me, it will take time.   2. Sleeping in your car.     If possible, I will suggest this option. There is plenty of rest stops where you can sleep, and many of those have clean toilets.     If you have a camper van you have even more possibilities. I have slept in my Range Rover, four night in car, one in motel,     four nights in car, and so on. 3. Norway is expensive.     It is not a secret that Norway is expensive. I always have plenty of camping food with me. What I have noticed, southern parts      seems to be more expensive than north.   4. Take a ferry.     Sometimes you have to, since it is not possibly to easily drive from one place to other. Sometimes it is nice to take a break and enjoy      of fresh sea breeze. Most of the ferries cost around 100-200NOK but there might be ferries that cost over 800NOK so make some      research to avoid surprises.      5. Have a drone.     There is so much to photograph, but some places are impossible to access. Drone gives you so much more possibilities.     Just remember that maximum altitude is 120m and beware of the birds, some of them might see drone as their enemy.    

Formula One bread for Monaco Grand Prix

This time I wanted to make something a bit luxurious, after all, it is Monaco. Traditional dark bread from Finnish archipelago, remoulade sauce, cold smoked salmon, sea weed caviar, onion and grated horseradish.

I is quite warm in Helsinki, much warmer than it usually is in May. It is hard to imagine anything better to do on a warm summer day, than a boat ride to a lighthouse. We couldn't dock the boat, there are birds nesting on the island where the lighthouse is, but it didn't matter. It was super nice anyway. Formula bread, Spanish Grand Prix

This time I tried something different. One of my favorite Spanish dishes is Patatas Bravas. And so I made a sandwich where you can find patatas bravas and chorizo, boosted with aioli and finely chopped lettuce. A bit hard to eat with out a mess but the taste is really good. And yes, made some potato chips to the side. Tomato sauce: 1 yellow onion. 2 gloves garlic 1 can of Mutti cherry tomatos 1 tbs white vinegar 2 tbs tomato pyree Pinch of chili flakes 1 ts salt Peel and chop onions. Heat a sauce pan to medium, add olive oil and chopped onion. When onions are soft, add tomatoes ja smash them with spatula. Add rest of the ingredients and let shimmer for appx. 20min Potatoes: Boil potatoes until they are done. Drain, chop to small pieces and fry in a pan until nicely coloured. Add spices. Chips: Make super this potato slices. Heat vegetable oil to 180c° Cook ships until nicely brown. Be careful. Shot with Sony A7RIII and Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 Art -lens.
